Parklea’s Winter Food Drive supporting those in need
Parklea’s Winter Food Drive is on again this year, with locations throughout the Cardinia Shire welcoming donations.
Now in its fourth year, the annual Food Drive provides community residents with the opportunity to donate non-perishable food and personal hygiene products to help those in need.
This year, Parklea hopes to reach even more families and individuals, with new businesses volunteering to be drop off locations. During July and August, local residents can drop non-perishable food to Arena Café at Arena Shopping Centre, Timbermill Café in the Timbertop Estate, Cardinia Life (Aligned Leisure) in Officer, the Kaduna Park Land Sales Office and the Timbertop Land Sales Office.
“With the support of local businesses, we hope to provide more families with much-needed food throughout winter,” said Jarod Mills, Sales and Marketing Manager at Parklea.
“As a developer in the South East, Parklea is committed to helping improve the wellbeing and quality of life of those living in and around our communities. We encourage local residents and businesses to give generously, and thank them for their continued support,” said Mr Mills.
The Winter Food Drive is one of Parklea’s community initiatives, including a Christmas gift drive, aimed at supporting local families doing it tough. Parklea also supports a variety of local community groups, events, and charities throughout the South East.
All Food Drive donations will be distributed via Windermere, a Narre Warren-based community service organisation and charity that supports vulnerable local families and individuals with food, shelter, counselling, training and financial assistance.
Items most needed by Windermere are non-perishable foods with reasonable expiry dates, such as tinned fruit and vegetables, tuna cans, legumes, long-life milk, pasta sauce, dry pasta, soup, rice and other grains. Pairing donations and suggesting uses for the items is also welcome, such as pairing dry pasta with tinned pasta sauce for spaghetti bolognese. Personal hygiene products would also be valuable donations and are encouraged as well.
Local businesses will accept donations for the Winter Food Drive 19th July – 16th August.
