Giving Kids the Chance to Shine

Parklea is helping disadvantaged children pull on their boots and play for Pakenham United Football Club. The prominent Cardinia developer is a sponsor of the club’s Kids Can Play program.

A Pakenham United spokesperson said the program was vital in giving underprivileged kids the chance to play sport and be part of the community.

“This year we are excited to announce Parklea has jumped on board to help us maintain this program so we can continue to help those who need it,” she said.

Children involved in the program come from a variety of backgrounds: some experience domestic violence at home, some are in government care, others struggle at school or come from families who simply cannot afford the costs associated with junior sport.

“Financial stress is a massive reason why some kids are not able to play sport,” she said.

“There are many reasons why families need help. Some of the stories are truly heartbreaking.

“At Pakenham United Football Club we believe every child should have the opportunity to play sport and, with help from great people like those at Parklea, hopefully, we can keep this program going and support our community for many years to come.”

Sales and marketing manager Jarod Mills said Kids Can Play was just one way Parklea contributed to the community.

“As a developer of communities, we are proud that we can assist in providing sporting opportunities to children who are less fortunate,” Mr Mills said.

Other initiatives include the Winter Food Drive, which will occur in July and August.
